New Chalk Painted Picture Frames for my booth and Etsy~

Happy New Year Everyone! The last time we hung on on the Field of Poppies blog was back in 2013. I hope 2014 has started with great visions for you~

One of my visions/goals this year is to expand my etsy shop. Today I would like to share with you a picture frame I have created for my booth in an Antique Marketplace with high hopes of becoming part my etsy shop as well.

More Frames...{FALL} is Framed!

I want to show you another set of frames I created for the Fall Display in the Field of Poppies booth.

I printed the letters for this display using my handy, dandy inkjet printer on book pages from a foreign language book.  Using acrylic paint, I painted the frames with a fun, Autumn green with a little distressing. More burlap rosettes embellished with buttons finish off these rustic-style frames.

Pottery Barn Style Hutch Makeover

I'm loving the booth I share with my gal pal Melodie. (check out her blog-HERE)


We're a decade apart in age, but it's amazing the talents that each of us bring to the booth.

What has started out as a simple booth filled with handpicked treasures from garage sales, consignment shops, goodwill stores, and local online yard sales is turning into refinishing furniture and vintage finds along with items we create from items we find.  

We're loving it, but can be very exhausting at times.

I am a second grade teacher (beginning year 20- WOW!), and Mel has recently returned to school as a student in the Dental Hygiene field.
I have 3 teens and she has 2 tots.  

We always have projects going. (Our hubbies are always on our backs about our projects and taking up space in the garage or storage buildings.

But we love our time together making our corner of KnB's Marketplace a great place to visit and shop. Our ULTIMATE goal is to one day have our own brick and mortar shop.

Here's one of my latest projects~

I spotted this piece at a recent yard sale.

I should have jumped on it immediately, however my truck was loaded down from discovered treasures of the morning, leaving me no space for anything else. 
I'm also working on not being so impulsive. 
So, I got the owners email and number and decided to make her an offer later in the day if the piece didn't sell.

Well it didn't sell by the end of the yard sale~
So it was totally meant to be!

I brought the two piece set home a few days later.

I mixed my own custom charcoal gray chalk paint. {see post here}

Then painted and distressed it giving the piece a Pottery Barn look.

It's proudly on display in our booth.

A Sunday Stroll in Pictures

Stroll ~ leisurely enjoying your surroundings with no agenda and not a care in the world.

You get it right?
I love strolls basically any day of the week.
I love not having an agenda, well, at least sometimes. 
I have to be honest, I live by an agenda most of the time, but every now and then I get to throw it to the side and hop in my SUV and go.
Sometimes its near and sometimes it's far.
Sometimes I have my family, and sometimes it's just me, myself, and I.

Swirly Vases inspired by HGTV

I am a magazine junkie. 

(You should see my collection. All I can say it it's in the genes. You should really see my mom's stack. I mean stash. It's massive.)

My latest magazine phase is the HGTV magazine.  

I love watching the HGTV channel.(Doesn't everyone?)

Flea Market Flip being one of my favs.

 The channel and magazine are absolutely amazing and inspiring.

Those of you who follow me know I have a consignment booth in a local marketplace.  

The ideas in this magazine guide me in selecting colors, arranging pieces, and making my booth more appealing for customers.  

Last month while browsing through the magazine, I saw this easy DIY project.  

I love easy. 

I love DIY.  

 

These vases are unique, practical, and amazing.

I decided to give it a try.

Materials:  Misc. spray paint from the garage

clear vases from under your kitchen sink (I actually found mine free at a yard sale)

rubber bands from your junk drawer

Randomly place the rubber bands on the clear vases (or jars.) 

No planning required.

I took the vases outside to spray a light coat of paint on each of them.  

Be sure to turn them upside down to ensure you get the bottom.

Let them dry.

Remove the rubber bands once the pieces have dried completely.

Let the pieces dry COMPLETELY~ 
Then add a clear coat to seal the paint.

Add flowers.

Add candles.

or 

Add nothing and let the pieces be the focal point.

 

 Arrange the pieces in a desired location.

I placed my newly created pieces in my booth neatly arranged on a table display.
