Family Time at the Corn Maze

I {big, puffy heart} my family.
What I love more, is spending great, quality time with them.
We had a chance on Sunday to  put our crazy, busy lives aside, and S-L-O-W down briefly for some fun time together.
What better way than to visit one of the local corn mazes.

So grab your candy corn and enjoy the photos.

We had to answer trivia questions to determine which way to go!

I'm glad nothing jumped out at us!

More Frames...{FALL} is Framed!

I want to show you another set of frames I created for the Fall Display in the Field of Poppies booth.

I printed the letters for this display using my handy, dandy inkjet printer on book pages from a foreign language book.  Using acrylic paint, I painted the frames with a fun, Autumn green with a little distressing. More burlap rosettes embellished with buttons finish off these rustic-style frames.

"BOO" Wooden Frame Tutorial

It's October.

I almost thought October was going to boycott showing up this year.

Summer lasted F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

It's actually still in the high 80's here.So it still feel like summer. YIKES!

Fall was taking sooooooo long to roll around.
Fall brings some pretty cool holidays.
Get it "COOL?" (Lame, huh?)

That means Halloween is around the corner.

I {heart}Halloween.

This is my MOST favorite holiday.

Currently, I'm on a frame kick.

You know those small wooden craft frames from Michael's?

The possibilities are endless with those little guys.

I've done two projects with them thus far, but tonight I will share one.

I created this project for the Halloween display in my booth.

I elevated the frames on my handy dandy bed risers and margarine tub in the garage.

I spray painted two coats of black front and back of each frame.

I found some orange Chevron patterned scrapbook paper that would be great for this project. I cut it to fit the frame.

I cut out the letters that spelled "BOO" from the Cricut. The letters are 3 1/4".

 

I ran the letters through my sticker maker.  This is a handy machine to have in your craft stash of goodies.

I peeled the letters and stuck them to the chevron paper.

I then laminated the sheets for durability.  The frames don't come with glass, so the lamination will serve that purpose. Just ignore the numbers.  I don't waste laminating sheets. I'm also laminating math centers for school.

I placed the letters  into the frames, but the frames looked too plain.

I quickly made a few rosettes from burlap scraps.  Not sure of whether to place the rosettes on the top of bottom, I consulted my partner in crime, Melodie. She suggested the top. I agreed with the placement.

Lamp Makeover with Patterned Burlap

I picked up this ginormous lamp from the a local Goodwill Store.  I immediately fell in love with it.  It was old, rustic, VERY tall- (almost 4 feet tall), and had "POTENTIAL" written all over it. This would be an awesome accent piece in the booth.

As with many of the pieces I find, it came with a few imperfections.

The wheels immediately started turning for prolonging the life of this beauty.

With a fresh coat of black paint and a piece of beautiful patterned burlap, the lamp hit the runway with a new look.

Pottery Barn Style Hutch Makeover

I'm loving the booth I share with my gal pal Melodie. (check out her blog-HERE)


We're a decade apart in age, but it's amazing the talents that each of us bring to the booth.

What has started out as a simple booth filled with handpicked treasures from garage sales, consignment shops, goodwill stores, and local online yard sales is turning into refinishing furniture and vintage finds along with items we create from items we find.  

We're loving it, but can be very exhausting at times.

I am a second grade teacher (beginning year 20- WOW!), and Mel has recently returned to school as a student in the Dental Hygiene field.
I have 3 teens and she has 2 tots.  

We always have projects going. (Our hubbies are always on our backs about our projects and taking up space in the garage or storage buildings.

But we love our time together making our corner of KnB's Marketplace a great place to visit and shop. Our ULTIMATE goal is to one day have our own brick and mortar shop.

Here's one of my latest projects~

I spotted this piece at a recent yard sale.

I should have jumped on it immediately, however my truck was loaded down from discovered treasures of the morning, leaving me no space for anything else. 
I'm also working on not being so impulsive. 
So, I got the owners email and number and decided to make her an offer later in the day if the piece didn't sell.

Well it didn't sell by the end of the yard sale~
So it was totally meant to be!

I brought the two piece set home a few days later.

I mixed my own custom charcoal gray chalk paint. {see post here}

Then painted and distressed it giving the piece a Pottery Barn look.

It's proudly on display in our booth.
