Walt Disney World

About two weeks ago my family and I flew to the greatest place on earth- where ALL your DREAMS come true.  You guessed it- Disney World in Florida. We had a fan-tabulous time.  The weather was great, the hotel was out of this world, and the food was yummy, yummy to our tummies.

But what souvenier to you get all the family members back home? Those who stated clearly before you left, "Don't forget to bring me something." Possible ideas came to mind- the free cutsie Mickey Mouse soap and lotions from the resort, a souvenir penny from one of the parks  , a post card with none other than Mickey himself, a backscratcher , or that shirt that says "My family went to Disney World and all I got was this t-shirt" or a mug.   With much thought we I decided on giving everyone a family photo. A few of the Disney photographers took various photos over our 5 day stay.  However I couldn't just place a photo in an envelope and address it to the 10+ addresses.  I mean, presentation is key.  So I came up with this cute card.

  • Mickey Font Cricut Cartridge (My wonderful TA let me borrow her cartridge. Yay!)

  • Package of 8 blank  black/white polka dot cards (I found these at A.C. Moore for around $3.99. Cheaper with a 50% off coupon.)
  • Cardstock: red, yellow, black
  • Black brads (optional)
  • "Just For You" rubber stamp (mine is a dollar stamp from Studio G)
Cut from the Cricut:
  • 4 1/2 inch yellow full Mickey Mouse head from yellow cardstock
  • 4 inch full Mickey Mouse head from red cardstock
  • 2- 4 inch half Mickey heads (caps) from black cardstock
  • 3/4 inch "2012" from yellow cardstock
  • 1 inch Mickey head from yellow cardstock

Cut from scraps:
  • 3 1/2 x 2 red rectangle
  • 3 1/4 x 1 1/2 black rectangle
  • 3 x 1 1/4 yellow rectangle

  • 6 3/4 x 4 3/4 red rectangle
  • 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 yellow rectangle

Now that you have all the pieces cut, use the pictures as a guide to help assemble the card. Because I love reusing handmade cards, I just placed the photo inside.  This allows the receiver to reuse the card.  Kinda like two gifts in ONE. Have fun and enjoy.

Love the card, but don't want to make it or don't have the materials.  Let me know. I'll be glad to make you one, two, or a few for a minimal cost.

Fitness...in a Jar

2012 for many of us brings a list of resolutions we plan to resolve in the new year. However many come to past unresolved by the year's end.  The most common of these resolutions relate to health and fitness goals-eating healthier and exercising more. Once again this year, I have challenged myself to exercise more- but with a monetary incentive.  A FB friend posted on her page a while back of how she pays herself with money each time she works out.  I thought- WOW- what a novel idea.  So this is how it works.  Each time that I work out for at least 30 minutes, I will place $1.00 into this jar.
I've encouraged Todd (my fiance') to join "The Fitness Jar" as well.  As you can see from the jar, our workouts have been limited.  On the other hand, we have started and starting is the most difficult part.  I think thus far we have earned $7.00.  At the end of the year, we will take the contents and treat ourselves to something special.

Luckily for us, we have access to a free indoor track in our town to run or walk.  Oh, maybe I shouldn't exactly say free. The town taxes were raised to help pay for this facility, so I guess, I am paying for it.

So if this is something motivational for you-  GO FOR IT~

The beginning...

So, I've been totally inspired by one of my coworkers to start a blog~ Thanks Casey. A blog about me-my faith, my family,  my crafting, my baking, my gardening, my decorating (or lack of), my teaching, my friendships, my ups, my downs - in essence MY LiFe.   Starting a blog was on my 2011 Resolutions List, however it never left the ground.(Ever had one of those resolutions?)  My goal is to start and  stick with it.  I've done the first and most difficult step I guess . I've created the foundations of the blog.  I've been told that writing is one of the best ways to vent, express, and become a better person, so I proudly  nominate MYSELF to be a candidate.  This blog will be a work in progress so don't expect perfection. I'm as imperfect as one can be even though I strive for perfection in various elements of my life.  Being technology challenged, this new venture will bring a lot of new knowledge, dead ends, and new starts. I am open to help, guidance, and encouragement. My mom taught me as a youngster that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all and Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  So those will be two guidelines to be respected on my blog when commenting.  With that being said... Thanks for stopping by.  I would love for you to become a follower and hang out with me as I begin this AWESOME journey.
